The 2025/26 Sunderland AFC away shirt is a tribute to the club's rich maritime heritage and the unwavering support of its fans. Crafted by Hummel, this jersey celebrates Sunderland's return to the Premier League after an eight-year absence. It draws inspiration from the iconic 1989–91 away kit, featuring a blue base with a tonal checkerboard pattern that pays homage to Sunderland’s coastal roots. The design is inspired by the view of Roker Beach’s lighthouse through the ‘C’ Sculpture, reflecting the city's deep connection to the sea. The phrase ‘City by the Sea’ is stitched into the back of the neck, while the inner collar includes poetic lyrics from The Lake Poets that celebrate Sunderland's coastal identity. The shirt features the classic Sunderland AFC 1963–1972 ship crest on the left chest and a V-neck collar with red and white trim, echoing the club's primary colors. The new main sponsor, "W88," is displayed centrally on the chest in white. Made using Hummel’s ECO8 technology, the shirt is produced from eight recycled plastic bottles, combining sustainability with performance.
